best of 2009

My best of 2009 list may be late due to technical difficulties, but if truth be told, I'd rather wait until a couple of weeks into the year before releasing my list anyway.

2009, it seems as if you just arrived and now you’re gone. It was a year of laughs (The Hangover), tears (Precious), and robot deaths (Transformers II: Revenge of the Fallen). 2009 took us to new worlds (Avatar, Star Trek) and allowed us to take a second look at our own world (The Hurt Locker).

With a Meet the Fockers sequel, another Shrek film on the way, and a Twilight twiple (couldn’t help myself) coming, you may be begging for something to actually look forward to in 2010. Well, don’t worry, there are at least ten films that aim to please your popcorn palette in the year to come.

2009 ended weeks ago, but we haven't gotten our final say after a slew of computer issues and personal illnesses. Now we finally get our final look at the year, after discussing the obstacles we've faced in the past few weeks. Listen to what we liked, what left us disappointed, names that stood out, and our favorite films of 2003. At least one of our choices is bound to surprise you.

First off let me state this is not a “best of” list, for there are too many good shows for me to have time to watch and judge, and there are many shows that I know others really love that I just have no interest in watching. This is also not an all encompassing list, just pretty much a list of shows I (or my fiancé) saw some or all of and what I thought about them.

We haven't gotten around to talking about soundtracks much around Widescreen Warrior, but they are an unmistakable element of every movie. A film without a soundtrack stands out drastically, usually for an intentional effect. A movie where the score overpowers the visuals is typically imbalanced.
