2009 Razzies Jeer Transformers 2
We haven’t been covering a ton of the awards season here on Widescreen Warrior. Frankly, there are just too many awards and not enough hours in the day. There are always two big sets of awards to capture my attention. The Oscars, which will have their nominees announced tomorrow, and the Razzies, which announced their nominees today. The two awards capture both ends of the motion picture spectrum – the Oscars highlight the best, while the Razzies hit the worst, and this year’s nominees are all ones I agree with wholeheartedly.
As no surprise to anyone around here, Transformers 2 leads the pack in number of nominees, along with Land of the Lost. Both are deserved entries and I only regret that Year One didn’t chalk up a few nominations itself. Twilight is duly represented, as it was last year, and even though I understood and somewhat enjoyed The Hannah Montana Movie, it’s good to see Miley Cyrus getting recognition for her acting skills.
The Razzies have followed the suit of so many other online organizations and added in their recognition of the worst of the past decade. Nevermind I still think 2010 should finish the decade, not 2009. Obviously that’s just my opinion and I’m in the minority. Again, some very un-talented and deserving names nominated for their 10 year award.
The complete nominations as released by the Golden Raspberries are below. Check back when the winners are announced the night before the Oscar Awards reveal their winners, Saturday, March 6th.
