Closing Tabs Tuesday: Film Shorts Are the Future
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Tue, 06/22/2010 - 19:58Closing Tabs started as a weekly look at news we didn’t cover on the site throughout the week. As the site has grown, however, we’ve moved away from reporting most news (you can catch most of it regurgitated on other sites anyway) in favor of more original opinions and editorials.
Re-View: Disney's Robin Hood
Submitted by Margaret Williams on Sun, 05/16/2010 - 09:30To see the barebones, basic version of the tale of Robin Hood is to watch Disney’s Robin Hood which was released back in 1973. We all know that simple version of Robin Hood and Little John robbing from the rich to give to the poor, but this animated Robin would correct that wording, so we’ll say they are only “borrowing” from the rich.
Closing Tabs Tuesday: The Revamped Return
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Tue, 03/30/2010 - 16:16Closing Tabs started as a weekly look at news we didn’t cover on the site throughout the week. As the site has grown, however, we’ve moved away from reporting most news (you can catch most of it regurgitated on other sites anyway) in favor of more original opinions and editorials. Still, that news is out there, clogging up the tabs on our browsers.
Alice in Wonderland
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 03/14/2010 - 09:09The match of Lewis Carroll’s surreal and strange Wonderland with contemporary gothic and bizarre director Tim Burton seems like it should be a match made in some sort of dark, twisted heaven, although some wondered just how far Walt Disney Pictures would let the mad director go with the studio’s name on the picture.
Jeff's Five and Dime: Summer's Coming
Submitted by Jeff Clark on Thu, 03/11/2010 - 20:27Jeff’s Five and Dime is not your typical top-five list. Then again, what’s typical about Jeff? In this weekly column Jeff will bring you a top-five list meant to amuse and on the rare occasion, make you think.
The Critical Eye: The Princess and The Frog in the Era of Hope
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 20:41Film reviews tend to focus on whether a movie was good or bad, specifically on advising an audience whether the film is worth watching. The Critical Eye isn’t a movie review. It’s a more in depth look at a film through a critical eye. As such, this is not a spoiler free look at the film. Key information will be discussed.
The Princess and the Frog
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Tue, 12/15/2009 - 23:28In many ways, Disney’s The Princess and the Frog is a return to a formula that spelled success for the animation house in the past. Most notably, it’s a return to hand drawn animation for the studio, who had moved to strictly computer animation ever since 2004’s Home on the Range, a movie that was poorly received.
Weekly Blend #210 - Where Are Brad Pitt and His Dudes?
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 12/13/2009 - 22:16This week brings you everything you could possibly want in an episode of the Weekly Blend. We have new movie reviews of Invictus and The Princess and the Frog. We look at upcoming DVDs The Hangover and Inglorious Basterds. James Cameron month is continued with talk of Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Early Image and Poster for Tron Legacy
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sat, 12/12/2009 - 18:21Assuming I break down and create a “most anticipated films of 2010” list in the next few weeks, Tron Legacy will be toward the top of it. I’m a huge fan of the classic Disney picture (which is overlooked by far too many people in my opinion) and I can’t wait to see what Disney has in store for the follow up.
Old Dogs
Submitted by Jeff Clark on Thu, 11/26/2009 - 08:34I remember when I used to laugh my tail off at poop, fart, and crotch-shot jokes. Too bad Old Dogs was not released back in yesteryear; I may have actually enjoyed it. Disney’s latest attempt to tell a grown up story to little kids seems to be like a dog chasing its tail. The story appears to have an end goal but we just keep going around in circles trying to reach it.
